Solar Home lights and Study lights for Weavers families and children in Kotakonda village
THRIVE NGO and Onechildonelight foundation, joined hands with Ladies Circle, Round Table, Hyderabad which funded the kotakonda village Solar Lighting project to improve the livelihood of weavers community in the village. The population of the village is mostly weaver’s community and is poor households. They have erratic electricity supply in the villages and most of the daytime and some hours in the night time the power supply is totally cutoff. Traditional handloom workers are not able to work for regular/longer hours because of power cuts (they need light in the day time as their homes are dark inside) and they are unable to earn the already meager livelihood and unable to provide two square meals for the members of their families.
By distributing solar home lights to the weavers family and implemented the distribution of study lights and installation of charging station for students at zilla Parishad school in Kotakonda village of Narayan peta Mandal , Mahaboob Nagar district, Andhra Pradesh state helps the situation and they can work for few more hours to improve their productivity. THRIVE appointed the village teacher as the lights maintenance in charge on a honorarium.
