One Child One light in association with “TELSA” (Telugu Society of America) based in California distributed 1001 solar study lights to students at KGBV schools in Andhra Pradesh. Ms. Beena while presiding over the distribution activities thanked Mr. Murali Chanduri, President of TELSA for sponsoring the ‘OneChildOneLight” Solar study lights for a noble cause.
The lights were distributed at “Kasturba Gandhi Balikala Vidyalaya" located at Nagarkurnool, Mannanur, Adoni, Maldakal & Markapur. The HM’s and the teachers of the respective institutes expressed their gratitude to TELSA and thanked OCOL for understanding and facilitating the Solar powered Study lights to their students.
They told OCOL representatives that ‘With the onset of summer, the timing could not have been better as they have to struggle with long hours of power cuts’. The students studying here are mainly from poor families where few of them are migrants and keep moving in search of work. With little facility they face hard times back home and they feel grateful to be among the chosen ones to get an opportunity to study.
The OCOL team on their visit had a brief interactive session with all the students while creating awareness about the Conservation of Energy and how the solar energy can be optimally utilized.
The distributions were done on Feb 08th at Markapur, on Feb 04th at Maldakal & Adoni, on Jan 31st at Mannanur & Nagarkurnool. (Press Clippings attached below)
