50 Tribal families from Andhra Pradesh receive the latest Solar LED portable lights from OCOL

50 Tribal families living in remote hamlets of Devuna Valasa, located in Dumbriguda village or Araku region of Andhra Pradesh benefited from the latest Solar LED portable lights from OCOL.
This was made possible, thanks to the efforts of Mr. Lava Kumar, an eminent journalist from Andhra Jyothi, who is keen to work in the areas of rural development and the benefit and upliftment of tribal communities through people friendly interventions and technologies such as LED lighting.
While traveling in the remote rural areas of Araku, he came across several tribal habitations which were devoid of power. Moved by the plight of these poor tribal families, he decided to do something for them to help them meet their lighting requirements.
Having heard about OCOLs LED lighting initiatives in rural and off-grid areas, he decided to help extend the OCOL programme into these areas so that lighting problems of the tribal communities could be solved.
Understanding the needs of the community, OCOL has supplied the latest model of portable LED Lights that come with a built in solar panel and can provide sufficient light through the night on a single full charge of 6-7 hours.
Based on the success and acceptance, more such distrubutions will be carried out in the near future.
