Lighting up a lakh of lives

Distribution of 1 lakh Solar Study Lights to students studying in 8th, 9th, and 10th classes of Government schools in each district.

In every district, there are nearly 100,000 children studying in 8th to 10th Classes in Government Schools. Due to the acute power crisis that the nation is facing today on generation of required electricity, poor students preparing for their examinations are likely to face difficult times in the days to come. To address the above issue, One Child One Light has come out with a clear vision and a comprehensive plan which involves several NGOs and social organizations active in each district.

As per this plan, 1 lakh solar LED study lights will be distributed to 1 lakh poor students studying in the Govt schools in each district. The lamps will be provided at a special price by Thrive Solar Energy Pvt. Ltd.

Plan details:

Cost of a Thrive Solar LED Study Light:  Rs.600.00
Subsidy from Thrive Solar Rs.200.00
Donor contribution Rs.300.00
Student contribution Rs.100.00
Total Rs.600.00

This way, a solar LED study light which costs Rs.600/- can be procured by a poor student for just Rs.100/-. To attend to any technical complaints, local youth will be given technical training and thus adding value to the project through creation of employment opportunities.

We urge the donors to come forward in large numbers to participate in this unique programme to support the poor students from various regions in facilitating their education by meeting their lighting requirements. Donors can choose to contribute for as small as 10 Solar lights by donating Rs.3000/- and partake in making this programme a huge success.
